Top Kart USA Dominates Final Round Of WKA Manufactures Cup

With the final round of the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturers Cup taking place at the GoPro Motorplex facility in Mooresville, North Carolina, Top Kart USA would attend with a large contingent of drivers. Looking to score race wins, secure championships as well as take home the Manufacturers Cup for the second straight year, the team proved to be successful yet again, garnering eight race wins and forty-three podium results throughout the race weekend and a staggering thirty-eight wins in the series.

A quartet of drivers would enter the Yamaha Senior ranks on Saturday with Patrick Olsen leading the way with a second place result. Kody Evans, Dakota Pesek and Chase Jones would make it four Top Kart drivers in the top-five, as they would cross the stripe third through fifth respectively. Pesek would be the man to beat on Sunday securing Top Kart USA a solid victory, as once again it was a Top Kart filled podium. Sweeping the first four positions, Jones would follow Pesek across the line with Olsen and Evans finishing third and fourth. Making the switch to Top Kart USA mid-season, Pasek consistently improved on his results and secured the 2013 Yamaha Senior national championship.

Komet Sportsman pilot Giovanni Bromante was the man to beat in the KPP category as he was a double victor on the weekend. Taking home the main event victories both Saturday and Sunday, Bromante rebounded from his previous Manufacturers Cup weekend to prove that he is a threat for the top step of the podium every race weekend.

A talent-filled TaG Senior category would see six Top Kart USA drivers fight for the win. Garrett Johnston and brother Jake would score the team’s best results in the ultra-competitive division on Saturday finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Chasing them closely and finishing sixth was Mark Boos with Calvin Stewart claiming a top-ten position in ninth. Chris Wehrheim would end his Saturday in 13th with Chase Jones in 14th.

A Johnston would once again score the best result for the squad in Sunday’s TaG Senior main event, as Jake would battle his way to a second place finish. Calvin Stewart would be the only other Top Kart USA driver in the top-ten with an impressive fourth place finish. Boos, Jones and Garrett Johnston would all cross the stripe finishing 11th, 12th and 13th on the day.

In the youngest class of the series, Top Kart USA would once again have a large contingent of drivers. Tyler Ferris would finish with an impressive third place result on Saturday and improved one position to come home second on Sunday. Conner Ferris would finish eighth on Saturday and was unable to find his way back to the top-ten on Sunday claiming the 11th position. Brian Temper Jr. would close out the WKA Manufacturers Cup season with a 13th and 12th while Tyler Maxson would double up on 14th place finishes. Andrew Bische would struggle on Saturday and finish 15th but he managed to rebound on Sunday and come home ninth.

Top Kart USA would find the top step of the podium in the Cadet Sportsman category and Lance Fenderson would score his first career national victory. Bromante would continue his great results on the weekend with a second place result and Pauly Massimino would cross the stripe in sixth. Sunday would see Fenderson and Bromante back on the podium, this time with Bromante coming home second and Fenderson in third. Massimino would add another top-ten result for the team with a solid eighth place finish.

Patrick Olsen would continue his winning ways in the Komet Pro ranks doubling up on the weekend victories. Dominating the weekend’s main events, Olsen claimed both Saturday and Sunday’s victories in fine form. Sweeping the podium positions on Saturday, Kody Evans and Bobby Cummings would secure second and third place finishes. With Olsen claiming the win on Sunday, Cummings would add a third place finish for Top Kart USA with Evans finishing the day in seventh.

Seven Top Kart drivers would do battle in the Yamaha Junior ranks including multiple race winners in previous national events. Leading the way for the Indiana-based squad would be Zach Holden, who managed to claim a pair of second place finishes. Saturday would see David Malukas finish seventh with Emerson Reed and Killian Keaveny coming home eighth and tenth respectively. Adam Sturgill would end his first day aboard a Top Kart in 12th with Kenlen Morse and Max McLaughlin finishing inside the top-twenty.

With Holden claiming the second position again on Sunday, Malukas would improve to end the fight in third. Reed and Sturgill would add top-ten results in seventh and eighth with McLaughlin, Keaveny and Morse coming home 12th, 13th and 14th.

Scott Ferris would continue to run at the front of the field in TaG Masters securing a second place result on Saturday. Tim Shutt would end the day in fourth while Steve Schiewer would struggle and claim the 12th position. Rebounding Sunday, Schiewer would find his way back to the podium in third while Shutt would finish sixth. Ferris would forgo the final round of competition with the championship already in hand.

Bromante would continue his weekend hot streak in the Yamaha Sportsman division with a pair of fourth place results in Saturday and Sunday’s main events. Fenderson would be the only other Top Kart USA driver in the class and would claim sixth and seventh over the weekend.

The Johnston brothers would once again be a force in the Parilla Senior field, with Garrett and Jake both running at the front of the class. Garrett would finishing second on both Saturday and Sunday while Jake would come home ninth on the first day of competition. Working hard on Sunday, Jake claimed the main event victory and another one on the list for the Top Kart USA crew. Mark Boos would add a pair of top-tens with third and tenth place finishes while Calvin Stewart would claim a pair of fifth place finishes. Chris Wehrheim would finish 11th on Saturday. When the final points were calculated, the Johnstons would finish first and second in the end of the year title chase.

Malukas would find his way to the top step of the podium in his first national event aboard a Top Kart as he took the Saturday honors in KPP Junior. Zach Holden would add another podium result with a third place finish while Alexander Kardashian and Killian Keaveny would finish seventh and ninth with Adam Sturgill claiming the 11th position. Sunday would see Malukas back at the front of the field, this time coming home second. Kardashian, Sturgill and Holden would all finish in the top-ten in fifth, seventh and eighth. Keaveny would end the weekend in 11th.

McLaughlin Jr added, “Moving forward with the Top Kart program very quickly we realized that the product is a hidden gem in the fact of performance and reliability of the chassis from the drivers stand point and mechanically as well. We have heard nothing but positive things about the kart overall and it is only going to progress from here.”
