USPKS Provides Two Victories and Six Podium Finishes

Making the short trek from their Indianapolis, Indiana warehouse 45 minutes east to the New Castle Motorsports Park facility, Top Kart USA once again had the largest team presence in the paddock and went on to secure six podiums including two victories. Competing at the third and fourth rounds of the United States Pro Kart Series (USPKS), Emerson Reed would lead the way for the large squad standing on the podium twice in the Yamaha Junior division while drivers showed speed across the board in a multitude of classes.

“We have had great success with our younger drivers and helping them improve to podium results,” explained Top Kart USA’s Billy McLaughlin. “All of our Yamaha Junior competitors are doing very well and some of them have only been in a full size chassis for a few events now. It is great to see them progress in such a short period of time.”

Emerson Reed was the driver to beat in the Yamaha Junior category as he finished both days of wheel-to-wheel competition on top of the box. Dominating the category, Reed is now a contender for the overall series title and will look to carry the momentum into future events. Zach Holden, who normally competes in the Sportsman ranks, jumped to the full size kart for the second time in his career and was immediately on pace. Crossing the stripe second on Saturday to make it a 1-2 finish for Top Kart, Holden would carry his streak of top-five finishes into Sunday and come home fourth. Kaden Harter added another podium result for the blue brand scoring a third place finish on Sunday, improving upon Saturday’s eighth place result.

Yamaha Senior standout Patrick Olsen joined his fellow Top Kart pilots on the podium on Sunday with a solid third place effort in the day’s main event. Always a threat for the victory in whatever he gets behind the wheel of, Olsen claimed a fifth place finish on Saturday and will look to improve upon those results in rounds five and six in a few weeks time.

A pair of Yamaha Sportsman pilots would be in the mix for podium results at the ultra fast New Castle facility as Lance Fenderson and Giovanni Bromante would do battle in one of the youngest racing divisions on the weekend. When the weekend finally came to a close, Bromante would garner seventh and second place results while Fendersen had a disappointing DNF on Saturday but rebounded Sunday to come home fourth.

Chris Wehrheim, Mason Chelootz and Tommy Andersen would be the trio of Top Kart USA pilots entered in the TaG Pro division and all showed the speed to stand on the podium throughout the weekend. A string of unfortunate circumstances including contact, a flat tire and being driven over on the start would see all three drivers fail to finish on Sunday with only Wehrheim having any sort of success to cross the stripe fourth on Saturday.

“If we didn’t have bad luck with our TaG Pro drivers, we would really have no luck at all,” explained Grand Product’s Owner and Importer for the Top Kart brand Mike Tetreault. “It was a roller coaster of a weekend as all three drivers showed the speed that was needed throughout the event. It is was an unfortunate end to the weekend but we will rebound and come back strong at the next round.”

TaG Masters front-runner Steve Schiewer would be back behind the wheel of his Top Kart and was once again a driver that would challenge for the top spot throughout the weekend. After running in the front two on Saturday but failing to finish, Schiewer came back Sunday to add another top-five result for the team claiming the fifth position.

Next on the docket for Top Kart USA will be the fourth event weekend of the World Karting Association Manufacturers Cup program. Taking place in northern Indiana at the Jet Karting of MRP facility in South Bend, Top Kart will look to add to their Manufacturer Cup-leading win total and take a strangle hold on multiple championships as the series enters the second half of the season.
