Looking to start the 2013 season off on the right foot, Top Kart USA branded drivers would make the long trek south to the annual World Karting Association (WKA) Daytona Kart Week program in Daytona Beach, Florida. Taking place on the grounds of the famed Daytona International Speedway, multiple Top Kart pilots would score victories while others would score podium results in the opening event for the 2013 race season. Looking to build on the momentum for 2012 where they claimed the Manufacturer’s Cup trophy for the chassis brand with the most wins, Top Kart started strong with four victories by three separate competitors.
Standing atop the podium for a pair of victories was Top Kart newcomer Patrick Olsen. Showing that he is a threat for multiple championships in 2013, Olsen claimed victories in both the Komet Pro and Yamaha Senior divisions. Fellow Top Kart pilots to join Olsen on the top step of the podium were 2012 WKA Manufacturer’s Cup champion Mason Chelootz in IAME Senior’s main event on Sunday while junior rookie Ryan Raffa claimed top honors in Saturday’s Yamaha Junior main event.
“The entire Top Kart deal came together so fast and heading to Daytona I was a little worried,” expressed Billy McLaughlin of Top Kart USA. “We all pulled together and worked hard to ensure all of the work was completed and our customers were happy. At the end of the weekend, it shows that we have a great group in program and some very fast and talented drivers.”
“It was a great start to the season,” explained Mike Tetreault from Grand Products, the North American importer for the Top Kart product line. “Of course we would like to win every class on the weekend but starting out the way we did is great for our momentum towards the rest of the season. With a big team tent and a great working environment provided by all the guys at Top Kart USA, I am confident that we will have more talented drivers and crew join our program in the very near future.”
Emerson Reed, Tommy Andersen and Zach Holden performed well on the weekend and even though they did not come home with any race wins, all three had strong and successful starts towards their 2013 programs.
The list of Top Kart USA drivers continues as each and every driver had a major role in the success from this past weekend’s results. Jackson Mears, Blake Deister, Chase Jones, Christian Ross, Steve Schiewer, Scott Ferris, John Ferris III, Bobby Cummings, Abby McLaughlin, Alexander Kardashian, Andrew Bische, Julia and Mark Boos, Garrett and Jake Johnston, Killian Keavny Jr., Cabit Bigham, Lance Fenderson, Ryan Schartau, Eli Fox and Tyler and Connor Ferris all had great starts to their WKA campaign and will look to improve on their efforts in April at the second round in Kershaw, South Carolina.
